He got away with it because at some point even though you had an instinct about him you allowed it. Next time around have zero tolerance for bs even if it means you are alone the rest of your life it will be more peaceful than spending it with another sociopath, making the same mistake twice makes you a sociopath so count you loses and move on with less money, more jaded but with peace which is priceless. If you put up with him for even a day you are probably a great woman and God will see that and reward you the blessings have already began by your ex husband being removed from your life. Do not take him back at any cost even if you have to move far away and change your identity he is the worst of the worst.
